Sukkot (aka Feast of Tabernacles, Feast of Booths) hearkens back to times in ancient Israel when Jews would build huts near the edges of their fields during the harvest season. Sukkot, along with Passover and Shavu'ot, are the three pilgrimage festivals known as shalosh regalim commanded in the Bible.
G-d commanded in Leviticus 23:42–43: “You shall live in booths seven days in order that future generations may know that I made the Israelite people live in booths when I brought them out of the land of Egypt.”
Sadly, Christian hypocrites have no need to perform essential commandments that G-d ordered us to observe forever.
